ACT Keyboard Association Piano Competition 2017

2017 Piano Competition Entry Form


First Round: Saturday October 21 (9.00am – 5.00pm)

Finals: Saturday November 18     (2.00pm – 6.30pm)


Heats: Recital Room, Canberra Girls’ Grammar

Finals: Wesley Music Centre, National Circuit, Forrest


Open to all piano students living in the ACT and regional NSW south of and including Wollongong who are no older than  21 years of age (Nov 18 2017)


The Competition will be run across three levels: (Grades refer to AMEB or equivalent)

Lower Intermediate- up to and including Grade 4

Intermediate- Grade 5 to Grade 7

Advanced- Grade 8 and above


All entrants are required to present two pieces at the appropriate level:

*A work or movement from a work of the Romantic Period

*A work by an Australian composer (Either Australian-born or having lived and      worked in Australia for a significant period – if unsure, contact ACTKA)


The maximum total duration of the two pieces will be:

Lower Intermediate ~ 8 minutes

Intermediate ~ 12 minutes

Advanced ~ 15 minutes

Finals:    – Dr Mike Lee, Lecturer and Convenor, Keyboard Institute, ANU School of Music

Heats:    – Ms Ji-Young Kim, Associate Lecturer in Classical Piano, ANU School of Music
