Teaching Fees 2026

ACTKA recommends the following hourly rates for the professional activities of its members, including teaching and accompaniment work.

The following should be used as a guide only. You may meet some or all of the requirements in any given category. At any time, you may be between categories. Members should use their discretion when setting fees. The following rates are not inclusive of GST.

Professional Member – $125 p/h (exc. GST)

Has obtained a tertiary qualification in either music or education

Is an active performer or accompanist

For teaching work, has a minimum of 15 years teaching experience

Is committed to ongoing professional development

Teacher Member – $114 p/h (exc. GST)

Has obtained a tertiary qualification in either music or education (or is working towards a relevant qualification)

Is an active performer or accompanist

Has a minimum 7 years teaching experience

Is committed to ongoing professional development

Associate Teacher Member – $86 p/h (exc. GST)

Is over 18 years old

Has a minimum grade 7 certificate in performance (AMEB or equivalent)

Has a minimum 3 years teaching experience

Is mentored by a professional teacher member (or other experienced teacher)

Student Teacher Member – $60 p/h (exc. GST)

Is under 18 years old

Has less than 3 years teaching experience

Is mentored by a professional teacher member (or other experienced teacher)
